- Financial Accounting Manager
Description
- Serve as the primary liaison between Finance and the WABE Studios Production team.
- Oversee all production accounting functions, including payroll accounting, accounts payable approval, cost tracking, and financial compliance.
- Monitor production budgets, analyze expenditure reports, and forecast final costs.
- Review and process production contracts, deal memos, start paperwork, and time sheets.
- Manage production payroll and ensure accurate labor cost allocation.
- Oversee the production accounts payable workflow, including invoice review, approval, and coding.
- Process billbacks of corporate costs for WABE Studios.
- Prepare and maintain weekly cost reports and production financial statements.
- Reconcile productionrelated balance sheet accounts and ensure timely resolution of variances.
- Calculate Georgia Film Tax Credits for each production and prepare detailed cost breakdowns.
- Lead the Film Tax Credit audit process for all productions.
- Work closely with the Georgia Film Office to ensure all qualified credits are received.
- Review and audit production expense reports to ensure compliance with company policy and state requirements.
- Prepare production company information for inclusion in monthly reporting, including revenue recognition.
- Provide production financial analyses as requested by management
Finance and Accounting Duties and Responsibilities:
- Verify and post general ledger activity.
- Reconcile account balances and bank statements; maintain the general ledger.
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Assist with the monthend and yearend close processes.
- Support the annual financial audit and provide documentation as needed.
- Develop and document procedures to strengthen internal controls.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance integration of financial systems.
- Participate in financial forecasting and provide financial insights to managers and senior leadership.
- Provide timely and accurate responses to financial inquiries.
- Stay current on financial technology and regulatory changes to support innovation and compliance.
Requirements: A successful Financial Accounting Sr. Manager combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. The ideal candidate also has experience collaborating and/or managing a team.
- Film & Tax credit auditing experience
- BS degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 4-5 years of combined production and accounting experience.
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Billing and revenue recognition experience.
- Experience in Film or TV production and knowledge of audit, tax, union, guild, and relevant government regulations.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the production process and experience with budgets and weekly cost reports.
- Hands-on experience with accounting and financial reporting software such as Abila MIP, Hyperion/Tableau
- Advanced Excel skills such as Power Query, XLOOKUP’s, Pivot tables, macros, etc.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Must be positive, hardworking, deadline and goal oriented.
- Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.
- Strong organizational skills and able to handle multiple requests in order of priority.
