Financial Services Specialist
PRIMARY PURPOSE: To serve as a key financial liaison to internal and external business partners (e.g. clients, carriers, IT, client services, etc.); to provide creative and innovative solutions to improve operational efficiencies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs robust analysis and research to identify and resolve discrepancies; engages and coordinates resolution of discrepancies with relevant stakeholders.
- Maintains and analyzes accounts and financial related data; ensures accounts and variances are accurately stated; and conducts timely reconciliations.
- Maintains department service level agreements (SLAs); ensure that the current and future service requirements of customers are identified, documented, communicated, and understood in the SLAs.
- Serves as a key financial liaison responsible for receivable and relationship management, partnering with internal and external business partners (e.g. clients, carriers, IT, client services, etc.); demonstrates the ability to maintain effective and productive relationships with both internal and external business partners.
- Administers incoming requests and communicates status/resolution to requestor and relevant parties.
- Communicates issues, project status and other applicable information to management and relevant stakeholders.
- Offers innovative approaches to improve operational efficiencies (e.g. carrier feeds, process improvements, discrepancy resolution and communications); ensures that improvement initiatives identified in service reviews are implemented and progress reports are provided to senior leadership.
- Validates and analyzes historical and/or live data and reports ensuring that accurate data and measurement reports exist and are reviewed with respect to SLAs; performs month-end and ad hoc reporting and analysis as requested.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Supports the organization's quality program(s).
- Travels as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensing
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Major in accounting or finance field strongly preferred. CPA or insurance designations preferred
Experience
Six (6) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required to include four (4) years of accounting, financial analysis, and/or insurance experience.
Skills & Knowledge
- Working knowledge of billing and reconciliation systems, claim systems, financial services, and insurance products
- Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills
- PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
- Excellent analytical and interpretive skills to include efficient use of MS Excel
- Excellent problem solving and resolution skills
- Strong organization skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies
