Our Project Accountants monitor the financial health of customer software implementation projects, from project setup through project close, working with project managers and providing meaningful analysis to business unit leaders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Set up and maintain percentage of completion, time & materials, and ratable projects in the ERP system once orders are awarded. May require interaction with the contracts, proposals, revenue recognition, and other organizations.
• Create, update, and maintain estimate at completion project templates (EACs) by working closely with the business unit project managers
• Prepare month end journal entries related to the project cost and calculation of percent complete for revenue recognition
• Assess performance of specific projects and prepare reports to inform management and business unit leaders of overall project performance
• Analyze costs and profitability by project and customer.
• Review change orders to identify risks to current projects
• Administer orders from initial acceptance to final close out
• Interface with financial planning and analysis (FP&A) organization in forecasting and completing ad hoc analysis as required
• Strong communication and analytical skills are desired
Education / Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or MBA preferred
• 3-5 years of Project Accounting experience preferred
• Strong, demonstrated leadership skills
• Ownership of assigned tasks and areas of responsibility; proven follow-through; execution to completion with minimal direction
• Strong attention to detail; highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills; Ability to self-check results and reasonableness before publication to ensure accuracy
• Ability to multi-task and handle several priorities simultaneously
• Desire to succeed in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
• Ability to work both independently and in a team
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
• Experience in software related industry a plus
• Experience with Deltek CostPoint a plus
