The Controller position is classified under the Finance Function and is responsible for controlling, reporting, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, compliance, and business performance management. The role serves as a key financial partner to management by providing accurate financial information and supporting strategic decision-making.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Controller is responsible for promoting and protecting the profitability, cash flow, and net value of the business through effective financial planning, reporting, analysis, and control. The position ensures appropriate valuation of assets, establishes adequate provisions for business risks, monitors financial performance, and provides management with reliable financial information to support decision-making.
The Controller also leads the Accounting Department, ensures compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, manages budgeting and forecasting activities, and supports continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to management.
- Monitor financial performance and identify areas for improvement.
Cost Accounting
- Maintain accurate product and manufacturing costs.
- Analyze cost variances and profitability.
- Support inventory valuation and costing processes.
- Provide cost information for pricing and operational decisions.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Lead the annual budgeting process.
- Develop periodic forecasts and financial projections.
- Monitor actual performance against budgets.
- Recommend corrective actions when necessary.
Internal Controls and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Protect company assets through strong internal controls.
- Coordinate internal and external audit activities.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Cash Management
- Monitor cash flow and working capital.
- Manage cash receipts and disbursements.
- Support treasury and banking activities.
- Optimize cash utilization and liquidity.
Leadership and Team Development
- Direct and supervise Accounting Department personnel.
- Coach and develop team members.
- Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Ensure timely and accurate support to internal customers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- Strong experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
- Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
Technical Knowledge
- Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Advanced Excel.
